Diwali is regarded as the festival of lights and lamps and is celebrated with great merriment and joy. People enliven this auspicious festival by exchanging warm greetings and gifts with close people and pals and family members. They share sweets and also exchange warm gestures just to express the joy. The festival marks the dawn of prosperity and wealth and is mostly celebrated with the worship of Goddess Lakshmi. People celebrate diwali 2014 in different ways. It has a staunch historical and spiritual significance and hence many people offer prayers to deities on this festival. Elders worship their Gods and goddesses according to their religion and kids and teens burst fireworks and crackers to mark celebration.

People celebrate Diwali mostly by lighting diyas and lamps to celebrate the return of Lord Rama after killing demon king Ravana. People celebrate the victory of Lord Rama and hence invigorate the belief of victory of good over bad and evil. 



During five days festival of Diwali different rituals are followed by different religions and together with goddess Laxmi several other gods and goddesses are worshipped. Some hindu offers Diwali Pooja to additional deities such as kali, Ganesha, Saraswati and Kuber. Diwali Pooja is done not only at houses but also at offices and is the significant day for the most hindu businessmen. On this day in bottle, pen and new account books are worshipped in many communities especially Gujarati businessmen do “Chopda Pujan” on this day.
