What Is Friendship Day?

Friendship Day is the celebrated to the bond of true Friendship and Companionship on the first Sunday of August every year. This occasion was begin in U.S in 1935 with small event to honor the relation shared by the friends and today, it is celebrated as a grand festival in most of the countries. This Year the Friendship Day 2014 is on August 3, Sunday. History of Friendship  Day:

The tradition of celebrating the Friendship day starts in 1935, by US congress who decided to designate the first Sunday of August as friendship day and declared official holiday on this day. This day is celebrated to honor the friends and friendship and became an annual event in the United States. This wonderful occasion was not limited to, United States, but with time pass, it spread over to several other countries. In 1997, the United Nations named Winnie - the Pooh, the famous cartoon character as the World’s Ambassador of Friendship.
