Ramazan is the holy month for Muslims and
estimated to start on 28th June 2017 and end on 27th July
2017.Ramazan is also commonly known as Ramadan.
Ramazan is the month of fasting, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.
During the month of Kurban Bayramı 2017,
Prophet Muhammad received revelation from Allah through Gabriel and thus it is
said to be Holy month, the night on which Muhammad received Revelation is known
as night of power, a holy night, which falls on a odd night during last 10 days
of Ramazan.
Ramazan month:
Ramazan month is the 9th month
of the Islamic calendar, As Islamic calendar follows Lunar Calendar, the start
of the month depends on the sighting of the crescent moon. Lunar calendar is 11
days shorter and thus the Start of Ramazan falls 11 days prior to the previous
year’s Ramazan date.
What do people do during the Ramazan Month?
Ramazan means scorching heat or dryness,
shortage of food and water. During the month of Ramazan all adult Muslims are
required to fast from sunrise to sunset. Before dawn they have their suhoor
meal and after sunset at the call of Maghrib prayer they break their fast by
water and dates and later they have their large meal. During the fasting hrs,
they are not allowed to eat, drink, enjoy sex or use abusive language; also
they are not allowed to lick envelope and stamp.
Muslim are asked to offer more prayers and
recite Quran from more times than regularly they read. Muslims are advised to
read Quran whenever they get time, at nights there are special prayers held at
mosques know as tarawih, which includes reading of Quran, this helps Muslims to

Muslims also engage in doing charity during
the month of Ramazan, many Muslims offer free food to the poor people to break

End of the Ramazan Month:
The month ends when they see the new moon
on 29th day of fasting, if the new moon is not seen then the fasting
ends on the following day. The first day of the new Shawwal month is celebrated
as Ramazan Bayrami also known as Eid al Fitr, it is the festival of breaking
the fast.
